THE LATEST & GREATEST
This was without a question, a perfect day at the beach. During Equine Photography Tour with Katarzyna in Spain, we met Miron Bococi who is a fantastic horseman. He does liberty training with his horses, they perform with their own show and also they do some stunts. This day our location was the Torrenostra Beach in Terrablanca. Weather was really perfect and gave us the best conditions. I honestly did not know what to expect at all. I mean, you see all kinds of horses and people when you travel. Different methods and different view of horses as a being with their own feelings and emotions.
To see Miron play with his horses, with love, humility and respect for one another made my heart warm and my soul felt happy. It was so beautiful and I think it was one of the best part of this trip. You could see his horses were happy and so much enjoying their tasks that was given to them. This is really how I think every relationship between human and horses should be.
My 2016 part 2
This is the second part of my year in review. Part 2 will be a little bit more personal, and not every month was about photographing horses. Still, I feel that’s what you need sometime. There should always be some time of reflection, building up new things and reload new energy. Also there is so much more in having a photography business, so much work behind the scenes. But that’s just fun!
In July I once again visited Agnetha and her horses. This time she had some new adorable foals! Also I met up with fellow photographer Camilla Olsson and we had a photoshoot together early morning on the shore of Öland.
From August I actually don’t have any horse photos to show you. Besides from horses I have different kind of clients, mostly weddings and familys. So August was one period with a lot of other sessions. 2 weddings and a handful family sessions. But, besides from that I spent a lot of time for preparation of my very first workshop.
September was a very big month for me. This was the time for my own very first workshop. I had a vision of what it would be like and it turned out even better. My island where I live is truly a rare and beautiful place, and I’m so happy I was able to do this. Thanks again to everyone who made it possible. Next workshop will be in May!
October gave me some more adventure! First I went with some friends on a roadtrip to Italy, South Tyrol, where one of my friends where looking for a new stallion. We met some really nice people and a lot of nice horses. The landscape with all the mountains was amazing! Besides from visiting horse owners we also went to Merano and the yearly stallion show. When I came home I got a visit from Susan / Silent Shiver and we had a couple of nice sessions together while it was still some colors outside.
This was the month where everything fell apart for me. From a very unexpected diagnosis of cancer I had to let my best friend go the same day we found out. My saluki king was everything to me and there is far too much grief to bear. Naturally, this led to some time for myself and loved ones. Other than that I left my part time job and got full time in to photography. So this month was also a lot about preparing and refreshing things for next year.
December, I visited my beloved friends who lives too far from me. I took the train and spent 12 days with them. I got one bigger job that I was very happy to do (not horse-related). Other than that this month (like every other month) have been full of editing photos, planing for 2017, updating social media, bookings for my workshop and a lot more. I am so very very excited for what 2017 will bring! I’m looking forward to develop myself in many ways.
My 2016 part 1
I really felt like doing a blog post to somehow make a summary of what this year have been. So, here it is! It’s been a year with new experiences in many ways. I am very grateful to everyone who took part of it, to everyone who supported me and to everyone who works so hard with their horses to help me get the photos I want. You are everyone a part of my 2016 and my development 🙂
In January we finally got snow here in south parts of Sweden. I remember that I got very excited and really had to take photos right at that same moment. So, I went to one of my favourite places here on Öland where Waldemar and Dancer lives. Arhults Stud who is owned by Agnetha Hjortsparre. I always feel very welcome there and it’s just my luck the horses are perfect in front of my camera. This was one of very few times I had my father with me to assist, very fun!
In february, I as well did some of my own fun shoot. I had a very boring and slow first 3-4 months where not so much was happening in my business. This idea was created from a brief I got, and I did not have any photos of that kind. So I started searching for a model and found the perfect one. PRE stallion Naranjo who also new some tricks – perfect for this. We set some artificial light up in the manege and then we did some great photos. I know you guys really like these photos and I do to. It was something new wich I’ve never tried before. Very good to create inspiration!
During the end of March we had some fun at the beach! Sunrise and then some hard sun during noon.
At the end of April I finally started on an 18 day long travel wich I had been longing for many months. This was really the cut from where the rest of the year became super busy. Me and Tuss flew to France together and met up with Katarzyna who organized the photoshoots together with Egija/Cheval Blanc. In France our main target was the Camargue horses, and wow. This was really like a dream come true and everything was just so beautiful. For you who is interested in doing the same thing, Katarzyna will have a workshop in Camargue this year.
In France we also met some nice horses at beautiful place Elevage de l’étrier.
In May we traveled on to Spain. Some people left us and some more people joined for the Spain Tour wich was organized by Katarzyna Okrzesik-Mikołajek (photo-equine) as well. Our many days in Spain where a big adventure and it was really a travel I will always remeber. We had so much fun, and after spending many days together it was actually very very sad to say goodbye to each other when it was over. Unfortunately we had very bad weather and it was raining a lot. But the views, horses and people made it all worth it. We visited some really amazing studs and farms. I still have not had the time to edit the majority of my photos from this trip, due to work wich have to be priority. Hopefully January will be a good month for catching up. Also this photo tour will happen again in 2017, if you book your place you will not regret it 🙂
In June I visited my friend Ida who has Ekbackens Haflinger. Her horses are definetly some of my favourite ones to photograph and they have learned me to really appreciate Haflingers as a breed. This time we had help from some other great girls and in total I think we only slept 3 hours that night. First we where up to take photos during sunset, and then we where up to catch the morning sun during sunrise. The life of catching that great light during summer. Another photoshoot I had was once again at the beach, this time during sunset. The weather was not perfect but suddenly there was a few minutes with gorgeus light.
Before our tour in Spain we went for a couple of days to France. One of the places we went to was Elevage de I’étrier – Albert Cochet. A really amazing place with beautiful horses – and this barn was my favorite place on this farm without no doubt. I loved the light, the sand and the whole wall. Perfect colors! This was only the corner though, the rest of the building was one of a kind. There was different floors with stalls on every level. I have never seen anything like it!
Our model on this spot was spanish horse Ideal, a really kind and sweet looking palomino
Backstage from Spain
I had the complete joy of being one of 8 in the group of Equine photography tour with Katarzyna Okrzesik Photography in Spain. During this trip we had so much fun, it really was an amazing experience in many ways. Before I start posting pictures from the trip I just would want to share with you some backstage pictures.
So. I was in Poland in august with some friends of mine on a workshop. This workshop was hosted by Photo-equine.com / Katarzyna Okrzesik-Mikolajek and we where in this beautiful place up on the mountains in the south. Owl Mountain is it’s name and Stajnia Podolin where we was living was a really good place to stay. So hospitable and generous!
One morning we went up on the hills to photograph in the break of dawn. It was a misty morning and it made this absolutely beautiful scenery that I fell so in love with. The horses is Milky Way and Heart and both boys are Wielkopolski breed. Their owner is Palomino & Cremello J.A. and they where excellent models and gave us a couple of moments with joyful play!
